Ausblick vom Alto de Mostelares
×

Shortly after Castrojeriz we cross the Rio Odra and climb slowly and steadily up a mesa to the point Alto de Mostelares at 911m. From there we enjoy the view back to Castrojeriz and the opposite mesas.

Canal de Castilla
×

After the short crossing of the plateau, we go steeply downhill, past the Hermitage of San Nicolas, over the Romanesque Fitero Bridge to Itero de la Vega in the province of Palenzia. Crossing the Otero Largo (lunch break under shady pine trees) we arrive at Boadilla del Camino. Shortly after, the path leads beautifully along a canal "Canal de Castilla".

The total 207 km long waterway was built in the years 1753 - 1859. With 49 locks 150 m are overcome. In Fromista we visit the Iglesia de San Martin, consecrated in 1066, and marvel at the harmony of proportions and the masterful sculpture work.
