On the way to Sarria I visited the Benedictine monastery San Julian in Samos.
The western front of the monastery church presents itself as a baroque-classicist building from the 17th and 18th century.
The monastery complex is grouped around two cloisters. Here the gothic cloister (16th century).

In the center of the second cloister from the 18th century is a monument to the Benedictine monk Benito Jerónimo Feijóo, who lived between 1676 and 1764 and was admitted to the monastery at the age of 14.
He taught as professor of theology and philosophy at the University of Oviedo and became known as the "Enlightener of Spain".
