Kisumu, the capital of Nyanza Province, is located in south-west Kenya on Lake Victoria and is the third largest city in the country. This lake is the largest in Africa and covers 68,800 km2 and is about 80m deep. It is the second largest freshwater lake in the world after Lake Baikal.
