Time seems to have stood still in Eguisheim. The city is especially famous for its ring-shaped The city is well known for its streets, which trace the course of the city walls. Walking through the the streets are left standing in front of numerous houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, some of which are the view of beautiful courtyards. On the largest square there is a statue of Leo IX. In the year 1002 Bruno von Eguisheim-Dagsburg was born here, who became pope as Leo IX. He consecrated 1049 the church of Ottmarsheim.
