Rock coves were formed here over 10,000 years ago when glowing lava flowed into the sea. Today, these natural pools, protected from the surf of the open sea, offer the purest bathing pleasure. The cold Atlantic water is warmed a little by the sun in the pools. When we were there in late April 2017, the water temperature was around 16 degrees. Very refreshing! Bravely we swam in the pool. Once you are in it, it is no longer so bad.
