At the western edge of the cape, level with the highway, a bumpy little road is signposted to an "Elevador". The elevador, a modern cable car, leads very adventurously down the steep rocky coast to Fajã dos Padres.
Down there is a small settlement, some tropical gardens, a banana plantation, a pebble beach and a restaurant. Besides, there is peace and quiet. One imagines oneself in a small paradise.
