The church of Saint Pierre in Vienne on the Rhone is one of the oldest in France. It dates from the late 5th century and belonged to a monastery. The striking bell tower dates from the 12th century.

The monastery was abolished in 1791, and a museum was established here in 1809. Today, the Musée Lapidaire exhibits finds from the Roman period.
