Mount Pilatus is the local mountain of Lucerne. Its highest point is the Tomlishorn with a height of 2,128.5 m (6983.2 feet). If you don't want to hike up, you can either use the steepest cog railroad in the world from Alpnachstad (since 1889) or the panorama gondola and aerial cableway from Kriens. At the top, there is the Pilatus Kulm mountain station with a viewing terrace, a panorama gallery and two mountain hotels.
