Impressions of Lofer with its church dedicated to St. Mary and St. Leonhard
After a short stay in Lofer we continue on the Way of St. James towards the Strub Pass. We leave the river Saalach and walk upstream along the Loferbach. In the picture the last houses of Lofer.
We pass the Nepomuk chapel at the exit Lofer.

The ruins of the Strub fortress. Not much is left of the castle, which played an important role in the Tyrolean wars of freedom (against the French).
This sign is already in front of the Pass Strub. At Pass Strub is the border between Salzburg and Tyrol.

The pass height is reached. The climb was half as bad as we thought.

At the Pass Strub inn we enjoy the last rays of the sun and dinner.
Then we hike on to our pilgrim hostel at the Grander Farm, where we receive a very warm welcome.
