The second largest city in the Australian state of Victoria is a commercial, port and industrial centre. It is not necessarily a place for a longer holiday.
Geelong is located at the western end of Port Phillip Bay, known locally as Corio Bay, around 75 kilometres southwest of Melbourne. The city centre lies between the bay and the Barwon River. It is about 20 kilometres from the city to the open sea. The Bellarine Peninsula is located to the east of Geelong. The famous Great Ocean Road begins a little to the south.
