The chapel "Seven Sorrows of Mary" in Sonnenhalb
The first chapel dates back to 1796 and the devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows was so popular that a second, larger one was built in 1861 in its current form.
The Gothic Pieta on the late Baroque altar is the oldest wooden sculpture in Innerrhoden. It was created towards the end of the 14th century.
Although the picture above the altar is not a direct copy of Cranach's Mariahilf picture, it has many similarities. The otherwise naked boy Jesus is wearing a white shirt, Mary is holding her head straight instead of leaning to the left and her robe is no longer entirely in keeping with Renaissance fashion. Jesus and Mary have also been given crowns - as in most Baroque copies.
