When Uri went to the aid of the Catholic Confederates in 1712, father Thomas Bumen and his three sons Thomas, Josef and Johann were eager to join the Catholic Uri people. But before they left, they consulted God and Mary and began to vow to build a chapel up there in honour of the Mother of God.
When they happily returned, they honoured Mary with a chapel.
