Church in Aumont-Aubrac
We met this pilgrim. She and her dog were on their way back from Santiago - back to Basel. She had been on the road since October 2005, i.e. for 9 months. What is that thing she is wearing in front of her breast? I asked and she replied: "This is my garden!
Nous avons fait une courte pause, visité l'église et rempli les réserves d'eau.
The way is long, uphill and downhill. It often passes by long stone walls.
Sometimes the pilgrims' path becomes really narrow, as here on the way to the stage destination, the hostel Les Gentianes, just before Finieyrols.
For dinner we had the regional potato and cheese side dish Aligot. It tasted delicious and unfortunately I had to have it replenished. The stuff is heavy on my stomach - I could not sleep all night.
Recette Recipe for 4 persons:
1 kg peeled floury potatoes
1 garlic clove
200 g crème fraîche
100 g butter
300-400 g Tomme de Savoie
salt and black pepper from the mill
Boil the potatoes with a little salt as for a mashed potatoes, drain, evaporate and mash with a potato masher. Pass through a fine sieve as desired.
Peel the garlic and press it through a garlic press. Stir in crème fraîche and butter. Stir the cheese in thin slices with a wooden spatula under the puree until the aligot pulls threads. Season to taste with salt and pepper, serve immediately
